At Five Loaves Sourdough Bakery, we are passionate about bringing back the true essence of bread. Established in October 2021, we specialize in crafting artisanal sourdough bread and pastries using our cherished sourdough starter, which has been maturing since January 2013. Our dedication to time-honored techniques and quality ingredients ensures that every loaf and pastry is a testament to the artistry and flavor of sourdough baking. With a dream of opening a full bakery in a retail store, we currently operate from our home base in Constantia Kloof, Roodepoort, serving the local community and beyond.

I recently tried the Fiveloaves Cheese & Spring Onion Sourdough, and honestly, it’s become a new favourite. The balance of flavours is spot-on — the tang of the sourdough, the richness of the cheese, and that fresh spring onion kick make it incredibly moreish. The texture is exactly what you'd want: crusty on the outside, soft and chewy inside. It’s perfect on its own, and I almost finished half the loaf as I drove home.
Really tasty. I sliced up half the loaf to freeze and have with soup.
